postage update

Hey folks! Just wanted to let you know that there will be a postage increase in May and that the Priority Mail postage for packages under a lb. (which is what we'll be using) has gone from $4.80 to $4.95. I have edited our last post re: rules to reflect that increase. Sorry about that, everyone. And thanks for understanding. Many thanks to Karen for telling us!

ETA:
Bertha asked a question about the postage that I'll address here. The stamp we're talking about is an actual stamp, like from a book of stamps. It's worth $4.95. This is what it looks like and I called to make sure and we can purchase them singly at the post office. That will cover the postage on any package up to a lb.

  1. OK, dumb-ass question. I have been in 2 swaps this year where we were requested to supply return priority mail postage. I did so for both of them, but when I got my package back, it was using different postage, so now I feel like a heel who did something wrong. What I did was use the APC thing at the PO, and after I printed out my postage to send the box to the organizer, I printed out an identical one to send back. Thinking about it now, the originating zip code would have been different, so would that have made the postage invalid, even if the shipping price would have been totally the same? Is there another way to get the paid postage stamp? Or can I include a $5 bill in the box so I don't fuck up again?

  2. Not fair! My PO has already jumped to 4.95. I mailed a package the other day and thought it was more expensive than I remembered! Shipper beware...the PO is a sneaky beast.

  3. OMG I didn't even know they made those actual stamps for priority mail! Dang, now I feel dumb. Thank you SO much!

  4. I am annoyed because my PO doesn't carry those stamps. I might order it online or put enough stamps on my return envelope to meet the $4.95 requirement.

  5. Oiyi, that's absolutely fine about using regular stamps for your package. I called my local PO to be sure they could be purchased there, figuring that if my PO had them, every PO had them, since mine is so small. That stinks! But it's not a problem at all.
